Kristen and Nate - Summer Wedding at The Mill Event Center

In August, I had the honor of photographing Kristen and Nathan’s wedding at The Mill Event Center! It was such a stunning day and I loved all the unique details that they put into their day. My day started at the Airbnb with Kristen and her bridesmaids. It was so laid back when I walked in; which I loved! The Airbnb was a historic little house, so floors were perfect for detail shots and I used an old door and fireplace mantel for Kristen’s dress and shoes. I love the charm that the house added for their photos!

Kristen had a first look with her bridesmaids and then with her dad! I love how these photos turned out and it was so much fun to photograph everyone’s reactions and emotions. Kristen’s flower girls came up and started playing with her train so they could see how the sun made it glitter. It was a really sweet moment.

Once everyone was ready, we all headed to The Mill Event Center. Kristen and Nathan also had a first look together! I love the look on Nathan's face as he turns around and sees how beautiful Kristen looks. She truly is a stunning bride! After their first look, we photographed bridesmaid and groomsmen portraits. Then it was time for the ceremony!

The ceremony took place outside under the pavilion. Kristen and Nathan’s vows were very emotional and I was tearing up a little bit, as was everyone else! Kristen surprised Nathan with his grandpa’s wedding band who unfortunately could not be there physically, but was definitely felt and honored that day. Nathan’s grandma came up and gave the ring to him. It’s one of the sweetest and most heartfelt moments I’ve ever photographed.

After the vows, Kristen and Nathan chose to have a unity ceremony and instead of the traditional sand or tying the knot, they both poured a bottle of paint on a canvas. I’d never seen a unity ceremony done that way and I loved it! Weddings are so much more personable and amazing when couples choose to do their own thing and add in details that mean something to them.

After the ceremony, we photographed Kristen and Nate with their families and then photographed the wedding party. I really enjoyed the wedding party and how fun they were! Kristen’s sisters especially were a joy to be around. Before it was time to party, we photographed Kristen and Nathan together, for the first time as husband and wife! I adore how their photos came out.

Kristen and Nathan’s reception was full of so many amazing details. I loved their seating chart and the phone that guests could leave messages for them on. They also chose to have breakfast food for dinner and cinnamon rolls instead of cake! Their guest book was a globe that they could display in their home instead of the traditional book. It was just so much fun to see all the fun little details they included.

The rest of their reception went great and their guests really enjoyed the music; we had so many dancers on the dance floor! We wrapped up the night with some photos by the trolley in the rain. I’m so glad I was able to photograph such an important day for Kristen and Nate!
