MacKenzie and Donny got married at The Old Blue Rooster in September. I knew MacKenzie in high school and actually played softball with her! I never would have thought in high school that I would grow up and not only see MacKenzie get married, but also photograph it! It was such a beautiful and fun day.
MacKenzie had a first look with her dad and I loved his reaction! It was priceless. Her and Donny also had a first touch. A first touch is where you are usually on opposite sides of a door, or in their case, the side of the barn and you’re holding hands, but you don’t see each other. MacKenzie and Donny chose this moment to read their private vows to each other. I love how emotional Donny got!
Donny’s reaction as MacKenzie walked down the aisle is one of the best I’ve ever seen. I teared up a bit! That is why the ceremony is one of my favorite parts of a wedding day to photograph. There is so much emotion! And not just from the groom, but also from parents, grandparents, and other family members.
MacKenzie and Donny’s ceremony was short and sweet and perfect. After the ceremony, we photographed their wedding party and it was so much fun. I think the groomsmen had a great time fighting each other for that beer! Wedding party photos do not always have to be super formal. They can be whatever you want them to be. So if you want to have the groom and groomsmen run to a beer; let’s do it!
MacKenzie and Donny’s party was nothing short of amazing! Their DJ, Mike, was awesome and got the dance floor moving. I loved how many people were dancing and having such a great time! They also had the Shutter Bus there which is an old VW bus converted into a photo booth. It was a huge hit!
It truly was such a beautiful day and so much fun! I’m so glad I was able to photograph their big day. I’m so thankful for MacKenzie and Donny and for them choosing me to photograph their wedding.
