When I was a bride last year, I had a lot of trouble finding a venue that worked for me and the theme of my wedding. So, I have decided to review my favorite locations I've shot at this year. I want this series of blog posts to be a resource to all couples, clients or not, to help them find the perfect wedding venue. This first post is about The Barn at Heather Glenlocated in Sugar Grove, Ohio.
I had the privilege of assisting another photographer with shooting a wedding there earlier this year. I love this venue because of its rustic feel. The barn has a beautiful pond behind it and quiet woods on one side.
I also appreciate that the barn has a bride and groom suite. Some locations make for beautiful ceremonies, but lack space and privacy to get ready on site. It is much easier on the couple to just get ready at one place instead of driving around- which also adds time to the schedule.
You can say your vows inside the barn, outside in front of the barn doors, or even in front of the pond! There is a stage area where a head table sits nicely. Photographers love that setup because the sun comes in through the slats and makes for gorgeous lighting!
The barn has two entrances that are big wooden doors; they're perfect for allowing in natural light and helping the flow of guests. It also has a huge deck which is a great place for cocktail hour or just for your guests to mingle. You could set up outdoor games under the deck as well.
Overall, I love everything about The Barn at Heather Glen. If you can get married there, you definitely should! Stay tuned for more venue suggestions.
