The Mill Event Center Wedding Styled Shoot

This styled shoot is the first one I've designed so, I wanted it to showcase who I am as an individual as well as my brand! I am a really simple, laid back person and I run my business the same way. I tried to incorporate simple pieces while also showing off the styles I love.

I chose the Mill Event Center for the venue because It's local to my hometown, Lancaster, Ohio and it's historic. My dad used to take me to all the old covered bridges and canals in Ohio as well as drive up and down Wheeling and Mulberry Street to see the older homes. So I've had a love for historic buildings since I was young. I first saw the Mill around two summers ago while it was being renovated; I fell in love with the brick the moment I walked through the door. I knew there was no better location to hold my first styled shoot!

I really like lace wedding dresses; I think they're so timeless and beautiful and really pull in that rustic feel without being in a barn. Lisa Emerita designed the perfect dress. I really love that the dress has some lace without being overpowering. For the tux, I just wanted a simple, but elegant black tux with a bowtie. Anyone else like bowties over the traditional tie?

For hair and makeup, again I wanted it to be minimalistic. I'm no makeup expert, so I gave Natalie from La Prima Beauty free reign. The only request I had for the hair was for her to incorporate a braid in some way. I love how the makeup turned out. It was stunning and really played on the grey in the tablecloths and wedding shoes. The hair turned out great as well! The greenery was perfectly placed and tied it all together.

The cake was probably my favorite detail and not just because it tasted amazing! Macy from Birdies Cupcakes captured my vision perfectly. I wanted the cake to be naked with some greenery. I originally didn't want to have the gold flecks, but she convinced me that it was a good choice and she wasn't wrong! The gold tied in well with the brick and other gold pieces. The cake was so good, that we may have fought over who got to take the biggest piece home.. I also had a hot cocoa bar because it's one of my favorite drinks other than coffee, of course! During the winter, I relax after a long day with a cup of hot cocoa and my favorite tv show.

I grew up hiking with my dad and love to go hiking with my own little family any chance I can get. I incorporated a lot of greenery and wood pieces to have that outdoor feel without actually photographing outside. The "better together" signs at the bride and groom table are actually the same signs I had at my own head table on my wedding day!

Audra from Breathtaking Bouquets did a great job on designing the bouquet. I liked that it wasn't the traditional circle. It was definitely a statement piece and tied in nice with the greenery on the arch from Royers Flowers.

The "bride" and "groom" name tags as well as the invitation suite and menu was designed by Caitlin from Ampersand Design and Studio. She is amazing! The jewelry was from Worthington Jewelers; the rings were gorgeous and the earrings were just right.

Overall, I think the the styled shoot really showcased me and my business! I'm super excited to continue to create and I'm already planning my next styled shoot.
